WASHINGTON: US and India in a recent joint statement have urged Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai and 2016 Pathankot terrorist attacks to justice, says a joint statement issued simultaneously in New Delhi and the US capital.
The statement was issued after the Second US-India Strategic and Commercial Dialogue which named several Pakistan-based militant groups as “terrorist and criminal networks” and demanded immediate action against them from Pakistani authorities.
In the joint statement, United States and India reiterated their condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and reaffirmed their commitment to dismantle safe havens for terrorist and criminal networks in the region.
The networks identified in the document included IS, Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, D Company and its affiliates and the Haqqani network.
“The sides (the US and India) called on Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai and 2016 Pathankot terrorist attacks to justice,” said the statement while underlining their pledge to continue to “review and consider other organisations that warrant terrorist designations, including those that engage in cross-border terrorism’’.
