KARACHI: The provincial government in Sindh is all set to announce its annual budget worth a total outlay of Rs. 1.12 trillion today.
The budget—the sixth by the incumbent PPP government—envisages spending Rs 105 billion on security and Rs 72 billion for the affairs of local governments.
The budget has also laid out Rs 1.3 billion for repair work and infrastructure in Karachi. The budget will also set aside Rs 4 billion for the completion of the K-IV water project that aims to overcome the severe water shortage gripping the country’s largest city.
The Sindh government has also promised to increase the salaries and pensions of government employees by ten percent, and has vowed to create 46,000 new jobs.
