ISLAMABAD: The federal government has suspended five officials of the state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) after it ran ‘begging’ instead of ‘Beijing’ on screen during the broadcast of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech in China on Sunday.
“This was not a mistake or a blunder, rather it was a deliberate attempt to destroy the successful official visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to China,”Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry told Daily Times.”It was done by those at the PTV who were inducted and promoted by the PML-N mindset people.They had committed another blunder last week by showing AJK as part of the Indian-held Kashmir,” he said.
The minister said he has issued instructions for the suspension of five officials of the content department and also ordered a thorough inquiry into the fiasco.”There would be no compromise on the matter,” he said.
PTV MD Hasan Emad couldn’t be reached for comment. However, Federal Information Secretary Shafqat Jalil confirmed the suspension of PTV officials on the orders of the information minister.
